Step 1: Create a Slack App for MadKudu

This may sound daunting, but it is actually pretty straight forward in a few clicks. Just follow the steps.

  1. Go to the Slack apps page (https://api.slack.com/apps)

  2. Click Create New App

  3. Select From scratch option

  4. Enter for App Name: MadKudu and select the workspace to start tracking

  5. Click Create App

  6. Once on the app page, click on Permissions

  7. Scroll down to the section Scopes and under User Token Scopes click on Add an Oauth Scope

  8. Select the following scopes (This may look long, but the search functionality in the dropdown should make this part go pretty quick)

     channels:history
     channels:join
     channels:read
     files:read
     groups:read
     links:read
     reactions:read
     remote_files:read
     team:read
     usergroups:read
     users.profile:read
     users:read
     users:read.email

  9. Scroll back the top of the page and click on Install to Workspace. This will show a page to grant the permissions on your workspace. Click on Allow (this will generate a token for MadKudu to use)

  10. You now see a User Oauth Token. Copy it and save it (you’ll enter in in MadKudu integration)

Step 2: Enter Slack token in MadKudu

  1. Log into MadKudu Admin console

  2. Go to Integrations then find Slack

  3. Go to Configuration tab and paste here the User Oauth Token you got at the previous step

  4. Select the channels you'd like to track

  5. Click Save

Good job! You can sit back and relax now, MadKudu will start pulling your Slack signals
