Welcome to the Competitive Takeout setup guide! This article walks you through the end-to-end process for activating the Competitive Takeout use case inside RGIP. Each section explains what to do and why it matters so you can confidently configure the workflow.
Follow the steps below, and click into any section to dive deeper into the setup process.
1. Internal Setup and Access
Before configuring the Competitive Takeout use case, your organization will need access to Revenue Growth Intelligence Platform (RGIP). Your HG team will provision access, and you’ll receive a welcome email with instructions to join the platform.
Once you’ve received the email:
Completing these steps ensures your environment is ready for integrations, agents, and Sales Copilot configuration. It also ensures permissions and roles map correctly for downstream workflows.
2.Connect Integrations
Connecting your systems gives Competitive Takeout the context needed to identify, segment, and activate competitive opportunities. Without these, sellers won’t have the data they need to act on competitive targets.
We strongly recommend connecting:
Salesforce (highly recommended for best results)
Sales engagement platforms like Outreach, Salesloft, or Gong Engage
Contact data providers like ZoomInfo, Apollo, or Cognism
Use the following setup guides to connect your integrations:
3.Identify Competitors To Displace
This is where your Competitive Takeout strategy begins! To begin the workflow, you’ll choose the competitor you want to target with the help of our Competitive Analyst agent.
Partner with your CSM to use the Competitive Analyst Agent. It will help you:
Analyze competitor landscapes
Understand where your competitor is strongest or weakest
Identify the most promising displacement opportunities
Learn how to begin competitive analysis here.
4.Create Competitive Takeout View
Once your competitor has been selected, you’ll create your Competitive Takeout View using our Prospecting Assistant. This view will give your sellers a list of companies that are renewing soon with your competitors, so that they can run focused displacement sales campaigns.
Follow the steps here to create your view with your CSM.
5.Generate Targeted Messaging
With your target accounts identified, you’ll now generate personalized messaging for sellers using our Competitive Displacement Writer Agent.
With your CSM, use this agent to help you:
Create AI-generated email sequences
Tailor messaging to personas (BDR/SDR/AE)
Generate competitive positioning and talk tracks
Read more about the agent in our documentation.
6.Manage & Configure Teams
Now that you have chosen your competitor, created your view, and have messaging created, it is time to set up which teams can access and act on Competitive Takeout.
This step ensures the right sellers see the right accounts. Without proper team configuration, reps may not have visibility into their competitive territory, or may see accounts they shouldn’t.
Follow these steps to configure your team setup and territory settings:
7.Share View with Teams
Make it easy for sellers to start using Competitive Takeout by sharing your View with relevant teams.
Sharing ensures sellers can:
Access the View directly in Copilot
Prioritize competitive account
Take action on signals and contacts
8.Invite & Enable Sellers
Now that everything is set up, it’s time to invite your sellers so they can begin using Sales Copilot to act on the Competitive Takeout use case. Make sure to also schedule a Copilot 101 session with your team, so they understand how to take advantage of the view you have set up.
Enable them with our Copilot 101 session
You’re Ready to Run Competitive Takeout
Once these steps are complete, your Competitive Takeout workflow is fully activated. Sellers will have competitor-aligned messaging, prioritized account lists, and actionable insights in one workspace.
