Building Custom Agents

Audience: Sellers (AEs, SDRs, BDRs)

The Agents menu in the left panel is where you build, test, and publish specialists for your organization. Agents run inside Account AI conversations, so a well-built agent turns a repeated workflow (account briefs, battle cards, meeting prep) into a one-mention task.

Overview of agents including Company Research and Expansion Whitespace Planner details.

The Agents page

Each agent appears as a card with its name, @handle, the template it was built from, a description, and usage. Filter by All, Live, Drafts, or Retired. Agents move through a lifecycle: drafts require testing before going live, live agents are versioned, and agents you no longer need can be retired.

Agent creation is open to every seller, not just Admins. Once published, an agent is available to everyone in your organization.

Testing and publishing

Before a draft can go live, test it: give it a sample company URL (any company) and review the output. When the output looks right, publish the agent to your organization.

Starting points

Select Create agent and choose how to begin:

  • Start from scratch: define a new job and deliverable your way.

  • HG Specialists: HG-designed starting points, fully editable. Out of the box these include:

    • Company Research: account briefs before the call. Who they are, what's changing, and who to talk to.

    • Competitive Battlecard: how to win when a competitor is in the deal. Where they sit at the account, and how to displace them.

    • Meeting Prep: the five-minute pre-call brief. What this conversation needs, tuned to how your team sells.

    • Outreach Email: cold and follow-up emails that open on a real trigger. Drafted your way, never sent for you.

Two ways to build

On the create page, pick your mode. Either way, you review and edit the same setup before anyone uses the agent, and nothing is published automatically.

  • Build with AI (recommended): describe the job in your own words (the outcome, priorities, limits, and ideal response). AI interprets your brief and generates a complete setup for you to review and edit. Helper prompts guide the brief: what to focus on, what not to use, what to also search the web for, how to structure the output, tone, and what to never mention.

  • Configure manually: start directly with direction, boundaries, and data access.

You also set the agent identity: the name people see and the @handle sellers type in Account AI. Agents are visible to your organization.

Data access

The Data access panel controls the evidence the agent may use, with a toggle per source:

  • Company profile: who the account is, identity and firmographics (always on)

  • Installed technologies: HG technographics, what the account runs today

  • IT spend: HG IT spend estimates for the account

  • Contract intelligence: disclosed contracts HG knows about

  • Buying intent: active buying-intent signals from HG

  • Functional area intelligence: HG FAI, which departments and roles own the relevant technologies

  • Contact availability: HG and CRM contact counts and strongest titles

  • CRM context: your own CRM's view of the account, matched to HG data

  • Public web research

Turning a source off keeps the agent from using it, so you can, for example, build an agent that works purely from HG data with no CRM context.
