# How to connect your Slack community to MadKudu

Your company manages a Slack community? It's a gold mine of qualified prospects!

Connect your Slack community account to MadKudu to leverage intent signals like people joining, posting, reacting, answering...

## **Pre-requisites**

- You are an Admin of your Slack community instance. If you are not, you will need to coordinate with your administrator on the steps that require setting permissions for your app.
- You are an Admin in MadKudu

## Step 1: Create a Slack App for MadKudu

This may sound daunting, but it is actually pretty straight forward in a few clicks. Just follow the steps.

1. Go to the Slack [apps page](https://api.slack.com/apps) ([https://api.slack.com/apps](https://api.slack.com/apps))

4. Enter for **App Name**: MadKudu and select the workspace to start tracking ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a55e7ea5-b8ac-4456-874d-10cc92097370/Images/Documentation/image(203).png)
5. Click **Create App**
6. Once on the app page, click on **Permissions**

7. Scroll down to the section **Scopes** and under **User Token Scopes** click on **Add an Oauth Scope ![](https://support.madkudu.com/hc/article_attachments/27738866540685)**
8. Select the following **scopes** (This may look long, but the search functionality in the dropdown should make this part go pretty quick)

 channels:history
 channels:join
 channels:read
 files:read
 groups:read
 links:read
 reactions:read
 remote_files:read
 team:read
 usergroups:read
 users.profile:read
 users:read
 users:read.email
```
9. Scroll back the top of the page and click on **Install to Workspace**. This will show a page to grant the permissions on your workspace. 10. You now see a**User Oauth Token**. **Copy** it and save it (you’ll enter in in MadKudu integration) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a55e7ea5-b8ac-4456-874d-10cc92097370/Images/Documentation/image(207).png)

# **Step 2: Enter Slack token in MadKudu**

1. Log into [MadKudu Admin console](https://app.madkudu.com/)
2. Go to **Integrations** then find **Slack**
3. Go to **Configuration** tab and paste here the**User Oauth Token** you got at the previous step
4. Select the **channels** you'd like to track
5. Click **Save**

Good job! You can sit back and relax now, MadKudu will start pulling your Slack signals
