# Cognism

MadKudu x Cognism turns MadKudu Copilot into a one-stop shop for prospecting. Sellers no longer need to switch between multiple tools to find the right prospects. This integration allows your sellers to discover key contacts they may be missing in their book of accounts without leaving MadKudu Copilot.

## Overview

Integrating Cognism with MadKudu unlocks [Contact Discovery](/v1/docs/contact-discovery) to allow sellers to access and prospect new contacts directly from MadKudu Copilot, without needing external searches. This integration transforms MadKudu Copilot into a powerful tool for targeted sales prospecting by leveraging Cognism’s extensive database. Sales teams can easily identify and engage key buyers not currently in their system and initiate personalized outreach sequences —all within MadKudu.

- **Contact Discovery Widget**: Get recommendations on key personas missing from your book of accounts, directly within MadKudu Copilot.
- **Search**: Use the search bar to explore and discover additional contacts beyond those suggested.
- **Add contacts to CRM & Sales Engagement:**add discovered contacts to Salesforce, Gong Flows, Outreach Sequences, or Salesloft Cadences in a click.

## How to connect Cognism

**Pre-requisites**

- You must be a Cognism Admin to connect with MadKudu. No Cognism account? [Request access here!](https://www.cognism.com/?pscd=get.cognism.com&ps_partner_key=cXN2YzZ4cW9hMDczMDk&ps_xid=mmhJnGDdUu76qM&gsxid=mmhJnGDdUu76qM&gspk=cXN2YzZ4cW9hMDczMDk)
- You must have a Cognism account with access to their API and [ability to generate an API token](https://help.cognism.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4444293398802-How-to-generate-a-new-API-Token)
- You must permit the MadKudu user in Salesforce to create leads and contacts

**Steps to connect**

1. **Generate a Cognism API Token**
  1. As a Cognism Admin, please follow [Cognism’s instructions](https://help.cognism.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4444293398802-How-to-generate-a-new-API-Token) to generate an API token
  2. Make sure you have **Entitlements** set up for the API, [refer to Cognism’s documentation here](https://help.cognism.com/hc/en-gb/articles/7700354847762-Setting-up-Cognism-API-and-Entitlements#h_01GDAMEVD903WMMSCV3H3M63G8)
2. **Configure the integration in MadKudu**
  1. Log into [MadKudu Admin](https://app.madkudu.com) console
  2. Navigate to **Integrations** then click on **Cognism**
  3. Click on **Configuration**.
  4. Enter your API Token
  5. Click **Connect**

**Steps to test**

Important: you must have credits available in your Cognism account

1. Log into [MadKudu Copilot](https://msi.madkudu.com/inbox)
2. Go to **All accounts** on the left nav bar below **Explore**
3. Click on any account in the list and in the panel opening in the right, click on the tab **Users**
4. In the widget **Contact Discovery,**click on**Discover,**you’ll see contacts showing from Cognism

You can test adding contacts to Salesforce as well

### FAQ

#### Do each user need a Cognism seat to search contacts from Cognism in MadKudu’s Contact Discovery?

No need to have a Cognism seat per user, you only need one account with the API set up to connect to MadKudu and credits in it. Then any user in MadKudu can use the Contact discovery.

#### How many Cognism credits are consumed?

When clicking on Discover in the Contact discovery widget, no Cognism credit is consumed. (Search API). When clicking on Add to Salesforce, 1 credit per contact added is consumed from your Cognism account. (Redeem API) Please note that even if no credit is consumed to preview contacts in MadKudu before adding them to Salesforce, you need to have credits in your account.
